Frequently Asked Questions On Those How & What...

How long does it take you to set up and sound-check your equipment?

Approximately 1 hour is required. Sound-checks are always as short as possible and we arrange them around your event timings to minimise any disturbance.

How far will you travel?

We perform all over the UK & abroad.

We are planning a wedding and need a music selection that appeals to people of all ages. Can you do that?

No problem. Many of the songs we play appeal to grandchildren and grandparents alike! Our set list consists of a mixture of styles from 60's soul to modern hits of today.

What kinds of events do you do?

We usually perform at weddings, parties and corporate events. We provide music for any kind of event that needs a feel-good party atmosphere!

What kind of equipment do you provide? Do we have to provide anything else?

We provide our own high quality, 2,000 watt, PA System and lights. This is usually more than adequate for the majority of events. However, if you have any special requests, or if more than 300 guests are attending your event, please consult us in case we need to provide additional equipment.

How much power do you use?

Our equipment will not draw more than 6 kilowatts of power. We usually ask for a 32 amp single phase supply with four 13 amp distribution sockets next to the stage.

Do you supply a DJ service at all?

The DJ option is performed by a member of the band, operating with the most current DJ mixing software. We have thousands of party classics on hand to keep everyone dancing. We're happy to take song requests or, if you have your own playlist on an ipod we can play this through our PA system. Using our DJ service means only one PA system is required, therefore the space at the venue is better utilised by keeping equipment to a minimum.

What are your set times for performances?

EMPIRE generally perform 2 x 60 minute sets but are willing to work around your requirements. We will always assist in what we think is best for you in order to maximise the impact the band will have on your event.

Are you able to perform outside?

Yes, but we'll need access to a safe and reliable power supply and need to be under cover in case of bad weather. Also, if the event is being held in a marquee or similar, the band needs a level hard floor as performing on grass is unsafe.

Can the band perform my first dance?

We'd be delighted to perform the music for your first dance! However, we are aware that some songs cannot be replicated with a 4-piece band and in that cicumstance we would recommend that we play the original recording through our PA system via an Ipod. In all cases, the more advance notice the better.

Can I use the band’s PA system and microphone for speeches?

Once the PA system is set up, we are happy for the microphone and system to be used.

How much space does the band need?

A performance area of approximately 4m x 5m (13ft x 16ft) is ideal. That said, we can squeeze into a smaller space if necessary!

Do you require a raised stage?

No, a stage is always a great addition to a performance but is not a requirement. However, if the event is being held in a marquee or similar, the band needs a level hard floor ideally as performing on grass is unsafe.

Has the band equipment been PAT tested and do you have Public Liability Insurance (PLI)?

Yes, if the venue requires certificates please contact us and we'll forward you copies.
